About SDSN Nigeria

Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was announced by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in 2012 to lead the driving forces engaged in the Post-2015 development process following the expiration of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Network mobilises leaders from the academia, business, civil society, government, development organizations and relevant stakeholders to promote problem solving and practical solutions for pressing challenges of sustainable development.

The Nigerian chapter (SDSN Nigeria) was inaugurated in 2013 as a consortium of Nigerian universities. Membership now opens to all academic institutions, research institutes and NGOs as well as CBOs with relevant projects in sustainable development.  The SDSN-Nigeria Secretariat is hosted at the University of Ibadan Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV), Ibadan and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Centre for Sustainable Development, Awka, Nigeria.

The highest priority of the SDSN-Nigeria is to work with the federal, state and local governments to prepare SDG-based development strategies at the national, state and local levels throughout Nigeria. This year, 2016, SDSN Nigeria focuses among other priorities on expansion of the Network’s membership drive, massive outreach, institutionalization of the Network, organization and structural building, engagement of various bodies with passion and interest in the SDGs, mapping of strategies on solutions initiatives and increased participation of relevant stakeholders including volunteers.
